About Me

I am drawn to the graceful lines of twigs, flowers, seedpods, and trees. I find endless material that inspires me when I am outside, from the fractals of a riverbed and the coastal lowland, to the delicate flora of high alpine tundra. These landscapes are rich with flora, full of fantastic details, balanced with a simple beauty.

My paintings are inspired by the dramatic colors and ever changing clouds in the evening sky.

I use the intense process of welding, cutting and heating steel to create my sculptures.  I primarily use an oxy/acetylene cutting torch, a blacksmiths forge and MIG and TIG welders to make my art. I love the strength and flexibility of steel.  I love cutting with my oxy-acetylene torch, the flying sparks, open flame and melting steel.  It’s a physically exhausting process that for me is emotionally invigorating, full of unlimited artistic possibilities.

One of my goals as an artist is to provide a lens for others to see and appreciate these beauties that surround us, by taking the ordinary and presenting it as extraordinary.
